According to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), 25% of all reportable accidents involving electricity are caused by faulty portable appliances, from kettles and photocopiers to overloaded extension cables and reels. Almost all of these accidents could be prevented with regular inspection schedules carried out by a qualified PAT tester.

Indepth Testing of Extension Cables and Reels. It is recommended that reels over certain lengths are fitted with Residual Current Devices, (RCD). When we test these reels, we will advise and fit appropriately, giving aded protection. We will also check and advise on the loading of these extensions, to ensure risk of overheating and fire is minimised.

Landlords have a legal duty to carry out Portable Appliance Testing at the start of a new occupancy and at regular intervals thereafter.
